蔡牧民,創業家、電影導演、攝影師、作者。2012與 Iris Lai 共同創立「Muris 繆思」,關注設計、科技與創新的新世代媒體公司。曾執導紀錄片《Design & Thinking設計與思考》、《Maker自造世代》、《Hanzi漢字》,科幻電影《Paradoxical 時光》以及2021即將發表的最新紀錄片作品:《Relationships 關係未來式》。著有《Photographic Memory 攝影思考》一書,曾在師大圖傳系擔任兼任教師、在松山菸廠舉辦個人攝影展《1/24》。
Mu-Ming Tsai is the director of feature documentaries - “Design & Thinking” (2012), “Maker" (2014), “Hanzi” (2017), “Relationships (2021), also the Sci-fi narrative feature “Paradoxical” (2017).”He is also the co-founder of Muris, based in Taipei, Taiwan.
His award winning “Design & Thinking” and “Maker" were both crowdfunded on Kickstarter and distributed independently, have been selected in many international film festivals including CPH:DOX, A Design Film Festival, Seattle Design Festival and Kikk Festival, and have gone to screen at organizations all around the world including Google, Twitter and Harvard University.
Based in Taiwan and focused on filmmaking in the innovation sector, he decided to produce and direct a follow-up film "Hanzi," a documentary exploring international design, visual culture and identity through the lens of modern Chinese typography; which has won best feature film at the Urban Nomad film festival, also invited as the opening film the Singapore Design Film Festival and shown internationally.
His award winning first narrative film “Paradoxical” is one of the very rare if not only Taiwanese Sci-Fi films, officially selected into the Bali International FIlm Festival, winning best Sci-Fi feature and described as “A beautiful and thought provoking film” by the Boston Sci-Fi film festival Jury and has found passionate audiences around the world.
Outside of filmmaking, Mu-Ming Tsai is also a multi-talented creative, guest lectured for Film Appreciation in Shi-Da University’s Department of Graphic Arts and Communications, held his first Solo photography exhibition “1/24” in Taipei, also the writer of numerous books such as “Photographic Memory” and more.
His newest film “Relationships” (2021) is a documentary on modern romantic, family, self, living and tech relationships; exploring cross-cultural differences, social and technological impact, providing a vision for future connection.
